Over the northern half of the North Island, from Taranaki, to Taupo and the Bay of Plenty northwards
Rain, with heavy falls and thunderstorms, easing to occasional showers this afternoon and evening.

For Taihape, Wanganui, Manawatu, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay
Rain easing to a few showers in most places this evening, but continuing about Gisborne.

For the Kapiti Coast, Wellington, Wairarapa, Marlborough, Nelson, Buller, Westland and Canterbury north of Ashburton
Scattered rain, becoming more persistent and heavier in eastern areas.

For South Canterbury and Otago
Drizzle about South Canterbury spreading to coastal Otago. Fine spells inland.

For Fiordland and Southland
Fine weather.

For Chatham Islands
Mostly cloudy, with patchy drizzle.

Monday
North Island, showers in most places, some thundery from Taupo to Northland. South Island, rain over the northern half clearing in the west and easing to a few showers in the east. A few mainly coastal showers in eastern areas further south.

Tuesday
North Island, showers from Wellington to Gisborne, clearing in the south. Mostly fine elsewhere, but showers in Northland at first. South Island, fine apart from coastal showers in the east at first, and cloudy areas about the south coast.

Wednesday
Fine in most places, but some showers about Gisborne at first.

Chatham Islands
Rain developing on Monday with easterlies, then cold showery southerlies on Tuesday. Showers clearing on Wednesday.
